On April 8, 2025, AREA members came together in Sydney for an engaging networking event focused on exploring the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market in Australia. The event featured presentations from two expert speakers, each providing valuable insights into the current landscape and future developments of the BESS sector both nationally and within New South Wales.
Damian Meduri, Associate Director – International Trade and Investment at Investment NSW, delivered an informative presentation that offered key insights into the renewable energy economy in New South Wales. He provided an overview of current government initiatives, investment opportunities, and strategic priorities shaping the state’s transition toward clean energy.
Wendel Hortop, Director Australia at Modo Energy, delivered a presentation featuring data-driven analysis on the evolving energy storage landscape within the National Electricity Market (NEM). His insights highlighted key trends, and market behaviours shaping the role of battery energy storage in Australia’s transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy system.
The event served as a dynamic platform for members to share industry knowledge, engage in meaningful networking, and build stronger professional relationships within the renewable energy community.
